Youths have been urged to shun violence and co-exist peacefully during campaigns as general elections draw close.
Migori County Police Commander Mark Wanjala lamented the rate at which youths have accepted to be misused to cause chaos in political events.
This comes even as the police launched a manhunt for two suspects in a recent incident where a teargas canister was lobbed at Dr. Ochilo Ayacko’s event in Suna West during his coronation by Suba elders.
Ayacko is the current Senator gunning for the governor seat.
The police boss warned youths against vandalizing candidates’ campaign materials and causing unrest in political rallies, saying they will arrest people of such character.
This is the second time Ayacko’s events have been disrupted.

The Migori County gubernatorial candidates now beseech their supporters to accept one another as the campaigns reach homestretch with scarcely over 15 days to the polls.
The Senator said it’s a pity to see youths lose property and life because of political differences.
“The last few days, incidences of violence have been witnessed on different occasions. Let’s shun destruction of property belonging to any candidate and resident of this county,” he said, adding that one of his supporters had ended up in hospital as a result of a politically-instigated attack.
His closest competitor John Pesa also called for peace during campaigns and elections, saying politics should not be the cause of acrimony.
This comes even as Suna West MP’s supporters raised concerns over recent incidences where his opponent’s supporters stole and vandalized the incumbent’s banners and other campaign materials.
