Tears flowed freely over the weekend during the burial of a 12-year-old pupil who was attacked and sexually assaulted before being killed at her parents’ house. The unfortunate incident occurred two weeks ago in Kanyonga village in Masinga Sub-county of Machakos.

Speakers at the burial piled pressure on police to ensure the family gets justice.

“The society has lost a young girl and a promising soul following the heinous act by one of us. We demand that police step up efforts to ensure justice prevails,” said Pastor Dickens Muuo of Mountain Church.

Eunice Mwikali, the mother of the deceased said “We are still in shock. Her painful death remains our worst experience. I pray that I get justice to my daughter.”

She called upon authorities to speed up investigations into the murder.

Kavingi Keya, the victim, who was a Standard Six Pupil at Kanyonga Primary School, was alone at home after arriving from school before she was attacked unawares, raped and stabbed to death in cold blood by the suspect, Wilson Ngui.

The suspect who was a farmhand working for her parents later handed himself to Kithyoko Police Station.

During interrogation at Kithyoko police station he admitted to have raped the girl and stabbed her neck with a kitchen knife before bludgeoning her head to death with a jembe.

Area Assistant Chief Raphael Musyoka confirmed that the suspect has since been arrested and arraigned in court in connection with the murder.
