Eldoret National Polytechnic claims top honours at National Music Festival

The Eldoret National Polytechnic is celebrating a remarkable cultural victory after its music team secured first place at the 2025 National Music Festivals held in Meru.

The team’s impressive performance of a vibrant Nandi folk song, earned them an impressive 89%, the highest score in their category, this victory marks a significant achievement for TENP, as it was their debut appearance at this year’s prestigious event.

TENP Principal Dr Charles Koech expressed pride in the students and their trainers, commending their exceptional discipline, dedication, and talent. He highlighted the win as a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing a holistic education that nurtures academic excellence alongside cultural heritage and individual talents. “This is not just a win for TENP, it is a win for culture, talent, and the spirit of excellence,” said Dr Koech. “I am incredibly proud of our music team for raising the TENP flag high.”

The winning performance was praised by the festival’s adjudicators for its authenticity, strong vocal delivery, and dynamic stage presence. The piece beautifully showcased the richness of Nandi traditions through its rhythmic and harmonious arrangement and energetic choreography.

Dr Koech thanked the music department for their dedicated work in preparing the team, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in the arts. He noted that cultural programs are crucial for building unity, identity, and confidence among young people.

“This is just the beginning. We are committed to growing our cultural programs and supporting our talented students as they share their gifts with the world.” Dr Koech stated.

The TENP music team is scheduled to perform their winning piece at a special celebration upon their return from Meru.
