Do not hide disabled kids, parents urged

Parliamentary Majority Leader Aden Duale has called on parents in Northeastern Counties to place their disabled children in education system as one way of empowering and alleviating their dependency in future.
He said that cases of parents hiding children with disability were on the rise as they hid them away from society.
‘’I want to urge all parents of children with disability to shun the crude habit of hiding these children with special needs; They should enroll them in schools as education is a universal right ,’’ said Duale .
Duale was speaking at Garissa Special School of the Deaf where he donated desks and assorted food stuff to facilitate special education.
Duale pledged that through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), he will continue to equip the school so that students joining secondary schools will not have to travel to Maseno or Karugoya to pursue further education.
The Garissa Special School for the Deaf with an enrolment of 156 students is the only school of its kind in the pastoralist north eastern region.
