Director welcomes endorsement of Nyanza as host to national ball games

Nelson Sifuna, Nyanza Regional Director of Education, addresses the Cardinal Otunga community.

Nyanza Regional Director of Education Nelson Sifuna has expressed gratitude to Kenya Secondary School Heads Association(KESSHA) for endorsing Nyanza as host to Term 2 national ball games for this year.

Sifuna, who addressed teachers and students of Cardinal Otunga High School, asked them to balance academics with sports because all of them contribute to the holistic development of a learner.

The director thanked the staff and students of Cardinal Otunga for posting sterling KCSE examination results in the last two consecutive years.

“You have done us proud; now what you need is to seek the power of consistency in both academic and sports endeavours,” he said.

He said it was for that reason that the school was picked to host the games in mid-year, in addition to having good and enough playgrounds.

Other satellite fields that will host the national championships scheduled for July 29 to August 7 include Kisii School and Gusii Stadium.

According to a circular from the Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang, Kisii County is also set to host Junior Secondary School (JSS) games and sports.

The circular stated that the games competitions will feature soccer, netball, volley ball, rugby, handball and swimming.
