Defence CS pledges Ksh80M for new dorm for Moi Forces Academy

Defence CS greets students of Moi Forces Academy after commissioning a new dormitory.

The Defence Ministry will avail Ksh80 million to Moi Forces Academy in Nairobi for the construction of a second dormitory, the CS Aden Duale has said.

Speaking at the institution yesterday where he commissioned a new dormitory, Duale made the promise and assured the armed forces that the government will support their children to get quality education and good health care, as well as decent housing for their families.

The CS, who is an alumnus of the institution, praised them for achieving a mean score of 8.345 in the 2023 KCSE examinations.

“As an alumnus of Moi Forces Academy, I hold it at heart and I am happy the school has maintained its stellar performance since its inception in 1979,” he said.

The CS unveils the plaque to officially open the dorm.

He asked parents to heed the government’s call to pay school fees through e-Citizen for it will eliminate ghost schools and minimize corruption in the country.

He cautioned students against drug abuse and indulgence in any other vice that is detrimental to their studies and wellbeing.

“My office will work hand in hand with other security organs to weed those who abuse drugs from our sponsored schools,” he said.

Duale promised that that the Old Boys Association will buy two buses for the school to assist them meet their transport needs comfortably.

He promised to mobilize the association to liaise with the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for funding of infrastructural development programmes and giving them more teachers.

The CS was flanked by the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, Kenya Air Force Commander Major General John Omenda, and Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan.
