Teaching and learning activities at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) in Nyeri are set to resume uninterrupted after the institution’s Senate affirmed adherence to the normal academic schedule.

In a memo issued on Monday, November 3, by Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research, Prof. Eddy E. Owaga, students were instructed to attend lectures strictly as per the existing university timetable. The directive followed the 94th Senate meeting held on the same day.

“It was resolved that teaching and learning will continue as per the University schedule. This is therefore to advise all the students to adhere strictly to the lecture timetables as earlier issued,” read the communication addressed to the student body.

The notice also expressed appreciation to students for their patience and cooperation, wishing them success in their studies.

While the memo did not elaborate on the context surrounding the Senate’s deliberations, it comes amid heightened scrutiny on academic activities in Kenyan universities as institutions strive to maintain academic calendars and minimize disruptions.

The communication was copied to key university administrative offices including the Vice Chancellor, DVC Administration and Finance, registrars, school deans, and chairpersons of departments, underscoring the importance of enforcing the directive across all academic units.
