CUE: CS Magoha re-appoints Commission Board

Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha has re-appointed the Commission for University Education (CUE) board to serve for three years.

In a Kenya Gazette notice dated 7th August 2020, Prof Magoha appointed Prof Anne Muigai, Dr. Elizabeth Muli, Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni, and Eng. David Onyango alongside representatives of different institutions.

However, the board will be chaired by Prof Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha.

It is worth noting that the mentioned commissioners were appointed for the first time on April 12, 2017 hence their tenure came to an end in April 2020.

The team comprises acclaimed individuals with in-depth knowledge that is required in the positions.

Prof. Anne Muigai who represents private universities in the CUE Board holds a doctorate in Population Genetics and Molecular Biology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

She is also a Professor of Genetics in the JKUAT Botany Department with over 19 years of experience.

Dr. Elizabeth W. Muli who represents the Private Universities in the Commission is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi School of Law and Chairperson of the Commercial Law Department.

Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni has practiced law for over 32 years and boasts of nonpareil competence and experience in both criminal and international law.

Eng. Onyango who represents the Federation of Kenya Employers in the board has served in various capacities in both private and public sectors. He specialized in the water sector where he has been involved in designing and construction of various water facilities.

Other Board members are Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, Principal Secretary for University Education and Research, Dr.Julius Muia, Principal Secretary-National Treasury, Mr. Victor Momanyi, Representative of Inspector, General (Corporations) and Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi, Commission Secretary/CEO.
