CS Magoha apologizes for abrupt schools closure

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has apologized after he directed schools to close abruptly for the preparation of the August 9th polls.

“I know people are unhappy that schools were closed abruptly. Let me apologize on behalf of the government. The electoral commission must be given whatever they want to carry out free, fair and verifiable elections. It is a transition period and I want the children to be safe with their parents at home,” the CS said.

Speaking to the press after commissioning four CBC classrooms at Umoja Secondary school in Eldoret, Magoha said that the controversial decision will fast-track polls preparations.

“I take full responsibility and the swords you have sent my way are enough. I love our children and I will be the last person to put their lives in danger,” he added.

Later on, Prof. Magoha commissioned Eliud Kipchoge Library at Kapsisiywa Secondary School in Nandi county.

“On behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta, I commission David Kipchoge library which has been built at a cost of Ksh 80 million,” said the CS.

He further said that president Kenyatta had authorized that the remaining Ksh 15 million to be used to extend the school’s fence and build ten classrooms.
