Former Bomet Senator Dr. Andrew Christopher Lang’at has been appointed by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu as a Member of the Commission for University Education (CUE).

Lang’at was a member of the Senate Education Committee, but before this, he served as a secondary teacher and a university lecturer.

In a gazette notice dated December 13, 2023, Machogu appointed Lang’at to serve for three years.

CUE is a body established by an Act of Parliament, the Universities Act, No. 42 of 2012, as the successor to the Commission for Higher Education (CHE), which was established under the Universities Act Cap 210B of 1985.

The Commission was established to make better provisions for the advancement of quality university education in Kenya, which entails regulating and accrediting universities and their academic programmes, among other functions.

Former Narok South MP Dr. Korei Ole Mein was appointed Chair of the Laikipia University Governing Council for three years, with effect from today.

The CS also appointed Dr. Humphrey Kimani Njuguna as the Chair of the Council of Moi University for three years.
