Communities have been asked to work harmoniously with school principals and teachers in their institutions in order to spur learning and development.
Kenyenya Subcounty Director of Education, George Ouma, said that schools are developed by their owners, which is the community. He further asked them to support schools instead of criticizing the principals whose schools post poor results in the national examinations.
The director was addressing members of the board, teachers and students of Kenyenya Secondary during the Principals’ handing over exercise.
He asked students to remain disciplined because without it success is not possible.
He asked principals to mobilize both human and financial resources to develop their schools.
“You are the drivers of your schools and you should hold the steering wheel firmly in order to take academics in the right direction,” he said.
During the meeting, the Principal of Kenyenya Secondary School, Lawrence Makori, handed over to Wilfred Nyakundi who was transferred from St. Andrews Secondary School in Myamira County.
Makori leaves Kenyenya Secondary School after serving for 9 years.
He asked the teachers and students to accord his successor support for the development of the school.
In his maiden speech, the incoming principal talked tough, warning underperforming and rude students an ultimatum to perform or quit as success calls for hard work and consistency.
