Chungani defeated as Mulama clinches executive secretary seat in KNUT Kakamega branch elections

Patrick Chungani has lost his bid for the Executive Secretary position in the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Kakamega East branch after being defeated by Patrick Mulama in a hotly contested election.

Preliminary results indicate Mulama clinched victory after garnering 397 votes against his closest rival, Patrick Chungani, who managed 226 votes. The decisive win underscores Mulama’s popularity among teachers in the branch and signals a new chapter in union leadership.

The elections, held in Kakamega East, attracted wide attention from educators and stakeholders. Soon after the results were announced, teachers took to social media to congratulate Mulama, with many describing the outcome as more than just a victory. “Congratulations Mr. Mulama for your win. Members have spoken. This was not just a win. It is a message,” one post read.
