Chuka varsity wins Chapa Dimba Eastern Regions, qualify for finals

Chuka University has emerged victorious in the Chapa Dimba Eastern Region semi-finals.

The Chuka University Scorpions and their female counterparts both won, setting the stage for the regional finals scheduled at Kinoru Stadium on Sunday, December 10th.

In a gripping encounter, the Scorpions exhibited resilience, clinching a 5-4 victory in a penalty shootout against Machakos Boys after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Robinson Muriira’s 33rd-minute goal was answered by Augustino Maya’s equalizer in the 38th minute.

Meanwhile, the Chuka Starlets, finalists in the last edition, sealed a 1-0 win against Saku Queens from Marsabit.

Beth Kathomi converted a penalty in the 54th minute, securing their place in the finals against Syomunyu Secondary School from Kitui, who dominated Mavoko Starlets with a 3-0 win.

Esther Robi, the head coach of Chuka Starlets, expressed confidence in their upcoming final, aiming for victory to represent the Eastern region in the national finals.

The finals promise intense competition, with the winners receiving Sh 250,000 and securing a spot in the national finals.

Runners-up will each receive Sh 150,000, and individual achievements in categories such as Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer, and Most Valuable Player will be rewarded with Sh 30,000 each.

Adding to the excitement, all players, winners, and runners-up will be rewarded with Neon Smartphones, the first locally assembled 4G smartphone in Kenya.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba Eastern region showcased remarkable talent, featuring teams from eight counties: Isiolo, Marsabit, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru.
