The Chief of Keroka Kennedy Ndege has issued a stern warning to adults who are preying on schoolgirls, luring them with the recent tea bonuses.
Speaking from his office, The Chief revealed that he has been inundated with reports of men enticing young girls to stay with them in rental accommodations.
“Some of these men are adults with families of their own, and they should reconsider their actions, remembering that the law is there to protect these vulnerable children,” he stated.
Ndege went on to express concern about the influx of unfamiliar men and women in Keroka, attracted by the recent bonuses earned by tea farmers.
Additionally, he cautioned parents against squandering these funds and instead encouraged them to save for their children’s education, especially those graduating from primary school to join secondary education next year.
He further emphasized the importance of living within one’s means during these economically challenging times.
With the upcoming lengthy December holiday in mind, the Chief urged parents to prepare for their children’s return with open arms, offering them the warmth of home and parental love, thereby deterring them from seeking companionship from potentially harmful influences.
Furthermore, he appealed to teachers and church elders to collaborate with parents in devising productive programs to keep their children engaged during the extended holiday, ensuring they don’t fall into the wrong crowd due to peer pressure.
