The police in Kisii County have arrested an Examination Centre Manager for allegedly assisting candidates to cheat in the ongoing KCSE examinations.

The police report indicated that the St. Francisca Nyamonaria Secondary School Centre Manager, Robert Ogendo was arrested together with a candidate and three other unknown people.

Police Officer Mr. Zachary Mochama who was manning the examination centre narrated how he tracked and arrested the suspects.

“I noticed suspicious movement towards the washrooms by candidates. When I went there, I found three men and a candidate with examination papers and a phone,” he said.

The three suspects were arrested while the candidate was allowed to continue with their examination.

The police recovered two Tecno mobile phones that the suspects reportedly used in the racket.

As the police led the suspects to Nyamarambe Police Station, they created a scene and escaped leaving the 59-year-old Centre Manager from Nyamonaria Secondary School.

Nyamarambe Station Police boss said that the suspect had recorded a statement and will be arraigned in the Court after investigations are completed.

He said that his officers had launched a man hunt for the three escapees.

The Police boss appealed to anybody who might be aware of their whereabouts to volunteer information to his office.

“We promise confidentiality to any member of the public who will assist us with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects,” he said.

Effort to reach the Kisii County Director of Education Pius Ngoma for comment bore no fruits at the time of publishing this story.
