More than 325 learners at Gitunduti Comprehensive School are set to benefit from improved digital learning following a donation of computers by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

The authority donated 10 computers to the school in Mathira, Nyeri County, in a move aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and equipping students with essential digital skills needed in a rapidly evolving technological world.

Speaking during the handover, CA Board Member Paul Mureithi said the donation forms part of the government’s broader initiative to ensure schools across the country have access to digital tools that support modern learning.

Mureithi noted that the computers will not only benefit the students but also the surrounding community by enabling them to acquire digital knowledge and keep pace with global technological advancements.

“The computers will help the school and the community in imparting digital skills. Students will not only learn but also share the knowledge with their parents, enabling them to compete globally,” he said.

The head teacher, James Mbatia, welcomed the donation, noting that the new equipment will support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and improve learning outcomes for both junior and senior students.

“We are happy to be a cyber-smart school. The computers will allow us to teach lessons such as coding, which we previously omitted due to lack of equipment,” Mbatia said.

The initiative is expected to strengthen digital literacy among learners while supporting the integration of technology in education within Nyeri County.
