Busia education fraternity mourns death of Kolanya Girls teacher Peter Oduki

The education fraternity in Busia County is mourning the death of Peter Oduki, a teacher at Kolanya Girls National School and the Alumni Welfare Chairperson of the St. Joseph Chakol Secondary School Alumni Association.

Mr Oduki passed away on Saturday morning while receiving treatment at Tophill Hospital in Eldoret.

The late teacher served at Kolanya Girls National School, one of the leading girls’ schools in Busia County, where he was widely respected for his dedication to teaching and mentorship.

Apart from his role as an educator, Oduki was an active leader in the St. Joseph Chakol Secondary School Alumni Association. St. Joseph Chakol Secondary School, located in Teso South Sub-county, Busia County, is among the region’s notable educational institutions and boasts a strong alumni network.

Tributes from the alumni association

In a condolence message signed by Alumni Association Chairman Vincent Ekisa Oile, the association described Oduki as a selfless leader who was passionate about the welfare of alumni members and committed to strengthening the unity of the Chakol family.

“He was always present whenever the Chakol family needed him. His contribution to the growth and unity of St. Joseph Chakol Alumni will not be forgotten,” the statement said.

Friends, colleagues and former students have remembered him as a humble and dedicated teacher who positively impacted many lives through education and community service.

The alumni association conveyed its heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends, colleagues at Kolanya Girls National School and the entire Chakol community, praying for strength and comfort during the difficult period of mourning.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
