Teachers from Bungoma County have promised to support the Building Bridges Initiative.
Speaking to Education News, Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers Education KUPPET Executive Secretary Augustine Luketelo affirmed that Bungoma County teachers’ fraternity has thrown their weight behind the report citing the 35 percent revenue allocation to counties as the main benefit.
He confirmed that Bungoma County has more than 25,000 teachers who are in support of the Building Bridges Initiative report.
The Unionist said that if the report was to be rejected, teachers have the maximum number to make it fail.
”In the entire county, teachers are the ones with huge numbers hence can make the report fail terribly but because it has good ideas which will benefit our people we fully support if,” he affirmed.
On other hand, KUPPET treasurer Rebecca Masibayi said the report has addressed the challenges facing Counties in terms of services from leaders.
”Bungoma is lucky because we are set to have three more additional constituencies which will make residents get services at ease compared to this time where residents strain to access offices due to overpopulation,” she said.
Wycliffe Wangamati in his address to the press said that Bungoma County will get additional amount from the national funds to facilitate learning in sub-counties, adding that the nine sub-counties was populated but the addition of three more sub-counties will make residents get better services.
