Bungoma schools shine in Western region, secure spots at KSSSA Nationals

Bungoma County’s dominance in secondary school sports was on full display as three top teams secured qualification for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term 1 National Championships after an epic showdown at the Western Region finals.

Moi Girls Kamusinga and St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys asserted their authority in handball, clinching regional titles. At the same time, Friends School Kamusinga emerged as basketball champions after edging out Sigalame School in a high-stakes final.

Moi Girls Kamusinga delivered a commanding performance in the girls’ handball category, dismantling their opponents with precision and tactical brilliance.

St. Luke’s Kimilili proved their mettle in the boys’ category, demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork to secure the regional crown.

In basketball, Friends School Kamusinga faced a spirited challenge from Sigalame School in a thrilling final.

Despite the intensity, Kamusinga held firm, executing a well-orchestrated game plan to clinch victory and solidify their place at the national championships.

Kimilili Boys, Moi Girls Kamusinga, and Friends School Kamusinga are neighbouring schools in the Kimilili sub-county in Bungoma County.

The three teams will now focus on the KSSSA National Championships, where they will battle the country’s finest for ultimate glory.

Their qualification underscores Bungoma County’s rising dominance in school sports, fueled by rigorous training, strategic coaching, and sheer determination.

As the road to the nationals unfolds, all eyes will be on these champions, with fans hopeful that Bungoma’s finest will rise to the occasion and bring home the coveted trophies.
