Bomet County basketball giants Kimulot Boys High School emerged champions of the Kabianga Open basketball tournament after a dominant performance at the Kabianga Playgrounds in Kericho County.
The tournament played on a round-robin basis and featured secondary school teams, saw Kimulot topped the standings with three points, ahead of hosts Kabianga who finished second with two points. Kapmaso Secondary School placed third with one point, while Kericho Day Secondary School ended the competition without a point.
Kimulot Boys showcased their class throughout the tournament, beginning with a solid 2-0 victory over Kericho Day Secondary School. They then edged hosts Kabianga 17-15 in a tightly contested encounter that drew loud support from the home crowd.
Kimulot sealed their title in emphatic fashion with a commanding 38-19 win over Kapmaso, underlining their strength in both attack and defence.
Speaking after the tournament, Kimulot head coach Norah Chebet praised her players for their discipline, teamwork and fighting spirit.
She noted that the competition provided a valuable opportunity for the team to test combinations, improve match fitness and gain confidence ahead of the upcoming first term games.
Chebet added that participating in competitive tournaments such as the Kabianga Open is key to sharpening the team’s skills and mental toughness, especially as they prepare for the challenges of the school games calendar.
