Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has said that he will hire over 900 Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
Speaking while addressing the public at Cardinal Otunga High School during Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12, he added that his administration will also construct 145 more ECDE classrooms.
He stressed the importance of education to learners’ formative years, highlighting that he had approved the construction of 128 ECDE classrooms up from 81 within one year of his leadership.
Arati decried high insecurity in the county and urged the County Commissioner Tom Anjere to pull up his socks.
On his part, Anjere asked the Governor to hold frequent meetings with area leaders to consult on the best way to improve security in the region.
He asked parents to be near their children and guide them during this holiday period; and to also spend mindfully considering they will have to pay school fees for their children in January.
