Bunyala Sub-County Adult and Continuing Education Officer of Busia Francis Tumbo Ojwang, has lamented that out of 13 KCPE adult learners, only 3 were able to register while one out of seven registered for KCSE due to financial constraints and lack of required documentation in the region.
Speaking at Bunyala Sub County headquarters, Ojwang’ decried the scarcity of adult education instructors, insufficient learning and teaching resources, a shortage of adult learners, and inadequate infrastructure.
The Officer urged the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to provide full support to adult education programs by ensuring the availability of adequate learning and teaching materials.
“Our department’s activities are hindered due to insufficient financial support from the Ministry of Education,” he stated.
Ojwang specified that the KCPE exam candidates would be taking their exams at St. Joseph’s Busia Girls Primary School, while KCSE candidates would be sitting for their exams at Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School, both located in Busia town.
