Over 80 candidates from Matungulu Boys High School yesterday walked out of school quietly citing being tired of learning.
The candidates’ claim rested on the school administration saying it is strict to them. 36 candidates remained at the institution.
Before the incident, they were reported to have boycotted meals sending a signal of something bad about hatching.
They claimed that the principal denies them their rights. They further, said the school offers a poor diet and had their entertainment sessions withdrawn.
“We prefer to leave the school, go home and only come back to sit for the national examinations,” said one of the students.
The school Principal Mr. Joseph Makau said what the students did was against the school rules. He added that even before the schools closed some of the students were under counseling for use of hard drugs.
However, Makau said the student did not interfere with anything else. He expressed his joy that no school property was even damaged.
