Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) is mourning the death of David Tisa Sasala, who was in charge of Editorial and Publicity Affairs for several years before his retirement.
Sasala passed on recently and will be laid to rest at his Matioli home, Malava Sub-County in Kakamega County on October 17th 2020. He is survived by his wife Mary and four children.
The former Principal of Friends College Kaimosi (FCK) was born in 1955 in Malava, Kakamega County. He attended Tande Primary School in his native Malava backyard before proceeding to Kivaywa Secondary School for his O level education.
He later proceeded to Kakamega High School for his A Level studies before joining the University of Nairobi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1979.
He was first posted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to FCK where he had brief stint as an assistant lecturer before he was transferred to the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) Nakuru in 1986.
It is while at RVIST that he enrolled for a post-graduate Diploma in Education at Kenyatta University. After completing his post graduate studies in 1990, Sasala went back to RVIST where he served as the Registrar and Dean of Students among other senior positions before his redeployment to Friends College Kaimosi as the Deputy Principal in 2005.
Two years later, he was promoted as the principal of the same institution. Position that he held until his retirement on June 30, 2015.
