Moses Kuria, a lecturer don teaching Production and Operations Management at the University of Nairobi is one of the ten candidates eyeing the vacant Lake View MCA seat in Nakuru.
The position fell vacant after the tragic death of MCA Karanja Mburu who lost his life in a grisly road accident.
Kuria is set to vie using the fragmented Jubilee party.
The don believes that after thoroughly doing his homework, he is confident of carrying the day in the set Jubilee nominations and subsequent by-election on 15th December 2020.
The entry of the Don, popularly known as MK who is not new in political arena after unsuccessfully vying for Embakasi West seat in 2017 adds a new matrix to the seat that has titans like Mathew George Njoroge Mathu and Moses Wanyoike Wanango as frontrunners. The race also includes many youthful contenders.
After an unimpressive performance in Dagoreti, the don said that he decided to vie for the lower seat to re-launch his political career from the grassroots. The seat has 18,000 registered voters.
The stakes seem high as many candidates resort to using online platform to campaign due to the Covid-19 restrictions on social gathering.
However, Wanango, one of the contestants admit that the new normal has been a different ball game as they were used to addressing crowds to gauge their popularity.
“All in all we are all forced to adapt and adopt to the new normal to woo voters,’’ admits Wanango who has been the representative for the seat twice before losing in 2017 polls by less than 100 votes.
Not left behind, other contestants are also using social media platforms to reach to the residents.
