In a move to speed up schools reopening process, teachers have been asked to report to their various stations between today and Monday 28th September.

Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) headquarters today, the Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia stated that the Committee in charge of schools re-opening reached the conclusion after a series of consultative meetings.

“We have deliberated as a committee and we are therefore asking our teachers to report to work on Monday September 28, 2020, to prepare for the eventual reopening of schools,” said Dr Macharia.

Dr Macharia, however, assured the country that teachers are ready to go back to class and they will work around the clock to help learners recover the lost time.

“We wish to assure the country that our teachers are ready to help learners recover the lost time and save the academic year that is at risk of being lost,” Macharia affirmed.

On the other hand, Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha warned against misquotation regarding the recommendation of school re-opening stating that schools have not reopened yet.

“We have not said schools are opening. We shall give you precise dates after appropriate government machinery have met,” said Prof Magoha.
