Makueni County is investing on community based sports programme dubbed Ligi Mashinani to keep young people busy.
Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau who was speaking during the flagging off of sports equipment where 35 teams across the county said this will reduce crime and teenage pregnancies.
Various teams were issued with 1,020 balls and 120 sets of uniforms.
The county is set to train 2,340 coaches to improve sports quality and skills.
Mwau noted that in Kenya the youngest mother is 10 years old adding that sports will ensure the youths engage in constructive activities that can benefit them.
