Parents in Bungoma County have been urged to use guidance and counseling as mechanism to curb students unrest.
Bungoma South Sub County Director of Education George Ochieng said parents should take up parental responsibility and be good role models to the students.
Ochieng said students found guilty of burning school property would be punished according to the law.
Kenya National Union of Post Primary Education (KUPPET) David Barasa urged the Government to consult all education stakeholders before coming up with new policies.
They were speaking at Sacred Heart Wamalwa Kijana High school in Kanduyi Constituency during funds raising event to construct a dormitory and classrooms. Area Member of Parliament Moses Nandalwe said that his office has distributed bursaries worth Sh 3 million to about 200 students.
Elsewhere, Kisii County education board chairman Dr Henry Onderi says most of the parents abdicate their parental roles and this has led to rising indiscipline cases.
He urged parents to take full responsibility of guidance and counseling their children during August holiday.
