Kuppet faults proposal to scrap boarding schools

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers Trans Nzoia officials have faulted the proposal to abolish boarding schools to stem students’ unrest.
Speaking to Education News the branch Secretary General Furaha Lusweti said such move will derail efforts put in place to invest and develop schools in the country.
Lusweti said schools in the country have cost billions of shillings and embracing the proposal would see the huge investment go to waste.
He said the proposal falls short of mitigation measure to deal with the menace that has seen several schools burnt by unruly students.
The unionist urged education stakeholders to diagnose the cause behind the unrests and come up with tangible solutions.
