Several service providers have partnered to start offering affordable internet solutions to schools within the country.
Home stage East African has partnership with, National Bank, Samsung, Access Kenya and Compho Africa, Azam and Zuku TV to ensure all the schools within country are connected with internet.
Some of the school based projects includes School Management Systems, affordable hardware Computers and laptops for schools and teachers on pay as you go platform by Samsung and affordable internet by Access Kenya for the IT laboratories
The objective of this project is to align with the Ministry of Education manifesto of bringing affordable internet across all schools in the country which has become a basic necessity for parents, teachers and pupils at large. According to the Compho Africa Chief Executive Officer Philbert Burudi, this is meant to enhance efficient communication, interactive roles and improvement of e-learning standards.
The strength of this project also lies on the Government’s Vision 2030; most of the schools are to be lit with electricity including the rural setups.
“We have partnered with Access Kenya to supply affordable internet and school management system in Western Kenya Schools and across the Country. The project is to be re- launched in Kakamega county then roll out to other neighboring counties and all over Kenya.” said Burudi.
He was addressing the 530 IG members during their 2018 education exercise.
Burudi said National bank through ‘My phone My school’ initiative has introduced an application where mobile phones are integrated with mobile money platforms.
“The Compho school management system designed by the bank has ERP linking all school departments such as finance, exams, stores and library and offers a branded bulk short messaging services (Sms) to enable teachers and parents communicate effectively.”
Burudi said different modules; admission, finance, exam, library and book management, payroll, stores and inventory, discipline, pocket money, bulk Sms, attendance and biometric module are all are connected to relay information between teachers and parents.
