KNUT threatens to withdraw teachers

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) West Pokot Branch has threatened to withdraw teachers working in the volatile areas along the West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet border following sporadic banditry attacks.
This comes after banditry and cattle rustling activities ignited in the area where by more than ten people have been killed and more than 500 livestock stolen since the year started.
The fate of more than 5000 learners hangs in a balance as they opt to stay at home for fear of attacks by bandits, bloody conflicts and constant battles between neighboring communities.
