Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has directed her Lands Executive Committee Member Nathaniel Nganga to ensure that people who have encroached on school land in Mwala Sub-County move out with immediate effect.
Governor Wavinya said encroachment on public land in Mwala had become rampant, denying the facilities room for expansion and development.
Speaking at Maweli in Mwala, where she inspected the desilting of Kaaria Earth Dam ahead of the expected El Niño rains, the Governor asked Nganga to send a team of surveyors and physical planners to the area next week.
“No one is allowed to encroach on public land and because I have been given instructions by our Governor, beginning next week Monday a team of surveyors and physical planners will come here with maps and work with parents and school Boards of Management to ensure school boundaries are clearly demarcated,” said Nganga, who was among Executive Members accompanying the Governor on her development tour of Mwala on Wednesday.

He warned those who had encroached on the land that it would be recovered.
Nganga extended the same warning to those who had encroached on land meant for dams and other public utilities.
