- Young footballer Victor Kiplimo has died after sustaining an injury while playing for Kingdom FC during the Mashujaa Day Cup qualifiers at Chebara field on Saturday.
- Kiplimo, who was the team’s captain, sustained a fracture during the match and was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to the injury in what is suspected to have been a blood clot.
Kiplimo was known in local football circles as a dedicated and talented player who led Kingdom FC with passion and commitment.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Elgeyo Marakwet County Branch has issued a condolence message to Kiplimo’s family, Kingdom FC management, players and fans, as well as the wider football fraternity.
In a statement dated September 28, 2026, the federation said it was deeply saddened by Kiplimo’s death.
“The Football Kenya Federation Elgeyo Marakwet County Branch is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Victor Kiplimo. On behalf of the FKF Elgeyo Marakwet County Executive, the football fraternity and the entire football family in the county, we extend our heartfelt condolences,” the statement read in part.

The branch eulogised Kiplimo as a dedicated player and a great talent whose passion for football inspired many.
“His loss is not only to his family but to the entire football fraternity in Elgeyo Marakwet and beyond. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may God grant strength to the family, teammates and friends during this difficult time,” the statement added.
The condolence message was signed by FKF Elgeyo Marakwet County Branch Chairman Boaz Kaino and Vice Chairman Dominic Otieno.

“We stand with you in grief and prayer, honouring Victor’s memory and his contribution to the sport we all love in our county,” the federation said.
Villagers and fellow players have described Kiplimo’s death as a big blow to grassroots football in Elgeyo Marakwet.
