The Ministry of Education (MoE) has rolled out a digital risk assessment and mapping exercise targeting schools across the country.
The ministry’s ICT department has developed a Kobo digital tool to facilitate the exercise, with schools expected to use the tool to complete and submit the required risk assessment checklist.
In a communication to education officials, the ministry said the platform has also been designed to allow Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) and County Directors of Education (CDEs) to verify submissions made by schools.
Education officials have been urged to liaise closely with schools in their respective areas to ensure that the required data is submitted.
Schools to be mapped by risk levels
The exercise is aimed at enabling the ministry to establish and map schools according to their respective levels of risk, providing a clearer picture of areas that may require intervention.
SCDEs and CDEs will play a key role in verifying the information submitted through the digital platform to ensure the data used for the mapping exercise is accurate and complete.
The ministry has urged education officials to ensure all schools participate in the exercise and submit the required information.

The risk mapping is expected to provide the ministry with data that can guide planning, prioritisation of interventions and measures to improve safety and preparedness in schools.
