- A family is seeking assistance from Machakos University after failing to receive an admission letter for a September 2026 placement.
- The student was informed in August that she had been placed for a Diploma in Business Management.
- Her family says repeated emails and telephone calls seeking admission and registration details have gone unanswered.
A family has raised concerns over delays in receiving an admission letter and joining instructions from Machakos University TVET Institute despite receiving confirmation of placement in August.
According to the family, Nduru Christine Kendi Makena received a text message from the university informing her that she had been placed to pursue a Diploma in Business Management for the September 2026 intake.
The message read: “Dear NDURU, Congratulations! You have been placed to pursue DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT at MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY TVET INSTITUTE for September 2026 intake. The college will contact you for Admission Letter and Joining Instructions.”
However, her uncle says the family has not received the admission letter or the required admission and registration details.
“Up to now we have never received the admission letter or the required admission/registration details. I have sent emails to the University without reply,” he said.
Family says calls have gone unanswered
He said he had also repeatedly called the telephone number provided on the university’s website but had not received a response.
“I have called this number which is on their website so many times and no one answers. To request an admission letter, is it to ask too much?” he asked.
The family is now seeking assistance from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Academics office to have the matter addressed.
“Please assist to reach the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Academics office for assistance on this matter. It does not make sense for us to travel all the way from Nakuru to Machakos just to get an admission letter,” he said.
The family wants the university to provide the admission letter and the necessary admission and registration details to enable the student to proceed with the September 2026 intake.

“Kindly assist on this matter please,” he said.
