The University of Kabianga has introduced an Elementary Chinese Course aimed at equipping students, staff and members of the public with basic Chinese language skills.
The programme, offered through the university’s Department of Linguistics, Literature and Communication under the School of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, will cover HSK 1 and HSK 2 levels.
Classes are scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, with the three-month course being delivered through face-to-face learning at the university’s Main and Town Campuses.
According to the university, the course is open to anyone interested in learning Chinese, providing an opportunity for participants to develop language skills that could enhance their academic, professional and international opportunities.

The course fee has been set at Sh15,000, with interested applicants encouraged to enrol ahead of the October intake. The university has provided an online application process for prospective students.
The Department of Linguistics, Literature and Communication said the initiative is part of efforts to expand language learning opportunities and enable learners to acquire additional communication skills.
