Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has been feted for the Most Outstanding Public Service and Community Transformation Leadership, while her Deputy Francis Mwangangi bagged the Excellence in Devolution Leadership Award.
The two were recognised during the ETA Awards Kenya 2026 Gala and awarding ceremony held at Semara Hotels in Machakos on Friday night.
Governor Ndeti was recognised for her transformative leadership and people-centred development agenda, which has seen the county make strides in healthcare, water, roads, education and empowerment programmes.
Deputy Governor Mwangangi was feted for his role in championing devolution and supporting governance structures aimed at enhancing service delivery in the county.
Mwangangi calls for commitment
Speaking as he received the award on behalf of the Governor, Mwangangi called for commitment and unity in nation-building.
“In whatever we do, we need commitment and some degree of discipline for us to be change makers. This country is ours. We have no other country, so let us tolerate each other,” said Mwangangi.
He dedicated the awards to Machakos residents and county staff, saying the honours reflect collective efforts to transform the county under Governor Ndeti’s leadership.
