The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has assured teachers of a free, fair and transparent promotion exercise as the ongoing interviews enter their second week.
TSC Marakwet West Sub-County Director, Francis Cheruiyot, said promotion interviews are being conducted in a fair and credible manner, in line with Commission guidelines.
Addressing teachers attending the interviews in Kapsowar, Cheruiyot said the exercise was progressing well across the Sub-County and the country at large, with all eligible teachers given an equal opportunity to present their case. “The Commission will be fair to everyone attending the interviews. We have put in place clear mechanisms to ensure that no teacher is disadvantaged,” he said.

He explained that the TSC follows a stipulated procedure to ensure that only qualified and deserving educators are promoted, with the process taking into account performance, merit, professional conduct and years of service, among other set criteria.
On the presentation of testimonials, the Director reminded teachers appearing for the interviews to produce verifiable evidence in support of their claims. “Teachers must produce evidence to verify testimonials presented. Original documents and authentic records are key in validating your achievements and qualifications,” he cautioned.
Cheruiyot urged teachers not to fall prey to fraudsters or individuals claiming they could influence the outcome of the interviews, emphasising that promotions are based solely on merit and laid-down regulations.

The nationwide promotion exercise, now in its second week, is expected to run until September 25, 2026. The Commission is seeking to fill various promotional vacancies aimed at boosting morale, rewarding long-serving teachers and enhancing service delivery in schools.
