Students at Hon. Isacko Memorial Boys Secondary School in Marsabit County have staged demonstrations demanding the immediate appointment of a new principal following the transfer of their school head.
The protests were triggered by concerns over what the learners described as an administrative vacuum after the principal was transferred without an immediate replacement.
The students are calling on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to urgently deploy a new head of institution to restore normal operations and provide leadership at the school.
The unrest has raised concerns among parents and other stakeholders, particularly over the potential disruption of learning at a time when students are preparing for national examinations.
Parents call for urgent intervention
Parents and education stakeholders have appealed to local education officials to intervene and address the concerns raised by the students before the situation escalates.
They said a prolonged leadership gap could affect the running of the school, including coordination of academic programmes, discipline and other essential administrative functions.
The stakeholders urged the relevant authorities to communicate clearly with the school community and ensure that an administrator is posted without delay.
The students, meanwhile, want the leadership issue resolved urgently, saying the continued uncertainty is affecting the normal learning environment.

Education officials had yet to issue a detailed statement on the protests and the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the former principal.
