A 17-year-old Grade 10 student from Korongoi Girls Secondary School in Kericho County, who had been reported missing, has been found safe and reunited with her family.
Maureen Chepkoech, also known as Chelel, went missing on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, prompting a search by her family and authorities. The student, who hails from Tebesonik (Bakoiyot) in Bureti, was last seen at a local junction known as Barabara, where she reportedly boarded a boda boda that already had an unidentified female passenger.
Her family subsequently reported the disappearance at Cheborgei Police Station on Wednesday morning, with the matter referred to the Tebesonik police desk for further investigations.

In a positive development, Maureen has now been found safe and sound and is back home with her family. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance have not been disclosed.
