- Several principals have retired, paving the way for successors, while others have moved in swap arrangements between stations
- Rift Valley TSC Regional Director Adow Bardad has confirmed the changes and urged affected principals to build good relations with their new communities, staff and students.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has effected several changes to principals in Rift Valley in a move aimed at improving education standards at various institutions.
Education News has established that Itigo Girls Principal Julia Samoei has been moved to Chebisaas Girls to replace Jane Kandie, who retired recently. Samoei will be replaced at Itigo Girls by St. Joseph’s Kapseret Girls’ Principal Josephine Sugut.
Also affected is Kapenguria Boys, where Eshikulu Principal Zakayo Omayio takes over as the new school head, replacing Moses Ndeda, who retired recently. Omayio reports to the station for the second time, having previously served there as Deputy Principal.
Similarly, Nakuru’s Koilel Forces Academy Principal Philemon Obenge has been transferred to Ambira Boys in Siaya County. Obenge will be succeeded at Koilel by Kaaga Boys Principal Stephen Wainaina, who has served at the Meru County school for several years.
The Principal of Ambira Boys High School, Boaz Adit, moves to Kabarnet Boys High School in Baringo to replace Julius Ndirangu, who has been transferred to Elburgon Mixed Secondary School in Nakuru County.
At the same time, Kamau Manyara, who has been heading Elburgon Mixed, now moves to Magereza Academy in Naivasha within the same county, and in a chain reaction, Magereza’s George Muchiri has been transferred to a school in Central Kenya.

In other changes, Kericho Tea’s Principal Wilson Samoei now proceeds to Cheptenge Boys High School, also in Kericho County, to replace Charles Ochego. The Principal of Jomo Kenyatta Boys High School in Nakuru, Maina Waweru, has been transferred to Nakuru West Secondary, while Apollo Kamau, who has been in charge of Nakuru West Secondary, proceeds in the opposite direction in a swap arrangement.
In Laikipia County, Nanyuki Boys Principal Solomon Koech has been transferred to Lenana Boys High School in Nairobi to replace William Kemei, who opted for early retirement. Kemei has been the Nairobi regional KESSHA chairman. Samuel Kahura, who has been Nyeri High School Principal, now moves to Nanyuki High to take over from Koech.

TSC has also effected changes in Uasin Gishu County, including Kapsungui Principal Nicholas Choge, who now heads to Koiwa-Arusen to replace Henry Kipng’ok, who proceeds to Kaptimbor Secondary in Baringo.
Also moving to Uasin Gishu is Esther Kobor, who has been Principal of Wiyeta Girls in Trans Nzoia County; she reports to take charge of Seko Girls, replacing Gladys Koech, who goes to Kapkatet Girls in Kericho County.
When contacted, Rift Valley TSC Regional Director Adow Bardad confirmed the changes and urged the affected principals to forge good relations with the local community, teachers and students in their new stations, adding that the changes were made to boost education standards in the region.
