A fresh opportunity has opened for students aspiring to join Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) reopened its portal for selected KMTC programmes with vacancies for the September 2026 intake.
The development is expected to offer relief to prospective students who missed the earlier application window or were unable to secure admission into their preferred programmes. KMTC announced that eligible applicants can now submit their applications online, giving students another chance to check available courses, confirm their eligibility and compete for the remaining vacancies. Students have been urged to act carefully and rely on official platforms, since the reopening applies only to selected programmes with available vacancies rather than every course offered by KMTC.
Applicants should first access the KUCCPS KMTC programmes platform and search for the courses currently available, then confirm the academic requirements for their preferred programme before submitting their application, providing accurate information and carefully reviewing their choices before finalising it. Students have also been advised against relying solely on lists circulating on social media, as course availability can change, with the official KUCCPS platform remaining the key reference point for programmes available under the reopened window.

KMTC has separately reminded candidates seeking admission to Higher Diploma programmes that their applications are being processed through the college’s own official admission portal, meaning applicants must distinguish between the KUCCPS route used for selected programmes with available vacancies and the separate KMTC portal used for Higher Diploma applications. Candidates have also been urged to read admission requirements carefully and confirm they meet the qualifications for their selected programme before beginning the process.
The reopening comes shortly after KMTC announced the introduction of three new programmes: the Diploma in Speech Therapy, Higher Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, and Higher Diploma in Audiology. KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr Kelly Oluoch announced the programmes during the Kenya Health Summit 2026, held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on August 18 and 19, during a Presidential Listening Session attended by President William Ruto. According to KMTC, the new programmes have been developed in response to emerging healthcare needs and skills gaps in specialised areas, and are expected to increase the number of trained professionals in speech therapy, speech and language therapy and audiology.

Students seeking to apply have been advised to check the KUCCPS KMTC programmes portal to identify courses with available vacancies, confirm the admission requirements for their intended programme, submit their application online with accurate personal and academic details, and review their choices carefully before submitting. Higher Diploma applicants have been directed to use the separate KMTC admission portal and follow the college’s own application procedure.
