Kenya’s teachers are facing a final race against time as the deadline for registration on the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Member Self-Service Portal approaches, with hundreds of thousands yet to complete the digital onboarding process. The deadline is August 31, 2026, and the latest figures, contained in a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) internal communication, reveal a significant gap between the number of teachers covered by the scheme and those who have completed the required digital registration.
According to the TSC memo, approximately 324,000 teachers are covered by PSSF, but only about 107,000 had registered on the portal, while fewer than 10,000 had completed both the PSSF Member Enrolment Form and the Beneficiary Nomination Form. That means roughly 217,000 teachers had not registered on the portal at the time the figures were reported, and more than 314,000 had not completed the full process, since fewer than 10,000 had finished both mandatory forms.
The Deadline That Kept Moving
The August 31 deadline is itself the result of an extension. TSC initially directed teachers to register within an earlier window, but low uptake forced the Commission to give members more time. In its July 27 internal memo to County Directors, TSC acknowledged that although approximately 107,000 of 324,000 teachers had registered, fewer than 10,000 had completed the two mandatory forms. The Commission consequently extended the registration period to August 31, 2026, saying the additional time was intended to enable members who had not completed the process to do so.
TSC’s instructions require teachers to sign up on the PSSF portal, complete PSSF Form I, upload a clear copy of both sides of their National Identity Card on one PDF page, and complete PSSF Form II, which captures beneficiary information. PSSF2 requires members to provide beneficiary information, including names, dates of birth, telephone contacts and identification details; for minors, birth-certificate information is required, and percentage allocations must also be indicated.
TSC has communicated the registration requirement repeatedly and intensified sensitisation, using its county and sub-county administrative structures to mobilise teachers. A virtual sensitisation exercise was scheduled for teachers on August 24, followed by another session for Sub-County Human Resource Officers on August 26.

What Teachers Should Do Before the Deadline
Teachers who have not completed the process are advised to prepare their National Identification details, TSC personal or payroll information, an active mobile telephone number, an active email address, a clear identification document, beneficiary information and beneficiary percentage allocations. The official PSSF portal is available at the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal, where the registration process begins with account creation and verification, followed by completion of PSSF1, upload of the required identification document, and completion of PSSF2. Teachers who have already created accounts are advised to confirm that the mandatory forms have actually been completed, rather than assume their registration is finished.
TSC has directed teachers requiring assistance to use the support structures provided through PSSF and its own administrative system. PSSF officially lists its customer-service contacts as 0746 111 777 and 020 787 2220, with info@pssf.go.ke provided for enquiries. Teachers have also been advised to seek help through their Human Resource Officers and relevant TSC administrative offices where necessary.

The Fund’s official website lists the Teachers Service Commission among its stakeholders and provides a dedicated Member Portal for members to create accounts and access the digital service, as part of a wider movement toward digital management of public-sector retirement information.
