Kenyatta University has officially installed Prof. John Okumu as the institution’s seventh Vice-Chancellor.
In his new role, Prof. Okumu has pledged to provide leadership anchored on integrity, accountability, innovation and evidence-based decision-making, while working closely with staff, students and other members of the university community. His installation coincides with the arrival of the 2026/2027 cohort of new students.

Welcoming the new students, Prof. Okumu urged them to take responsibility for their conduct, make thoughtful choices and remain committed to their studies while taking advantage of the diverse opportunities available across the university.
He reminded students to familiarise themselves with and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy, and encouraged them to strike a balance between their academic responsibilities and social lives.
