Kapenguria University College is racing against time to complete preparations and welcome its pioneer students in September 2026.
Preparations are gathering momentum at the institution as it works to meet its opening deadline. Speaking on the progress, West Pokot County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education Rebecca Kide said the county is making every effort to beat the set timeline. According to her, the goal is to ensure the college is ready for its first intake.
Moreover, Kide said the county government is working closely with the University of Nairobi to fast-track the remaining preparations. Currently, the county is focusing on infrastructure, facilities, and other essential support systems that students will need once they report.
All hands on deck as deadline approaches
With September fast approaching, preparations have entered a crucial phase. Kide said teams are deploying every effort to meet the timelines so pioneer students arrive to find a properly prepared institution.

Meanwhile, Kapenguria University College is preparing to open as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. This move will create a major new pathway to university education for students in West Pokot and the wider region.
