The government of Germany and the Equity Group Foundation have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership with Kenya’s Ministry of Education (MoE) to expand access to education and improve retention among learners.
The partnership has supported educational and training opportunities for Kenyan youth at both basic and tertiary levels, including opportunities in Kenya and abroad.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba hosted the German Ambassador to Kenya, Sebastian Groth, and Equity Group Holdings Chief Executive Officer Dr James Mwangi on Tuesday to discuss ways of deepening and strengthening the collaboration.
Expanding education opportunities
A key area of the partnership is the Wings to Fly scholarship programme, which has provided opportunities for academically promising but financially disadvantaged Kenyan students to pursue their education.
The programme has helped increase access to secondary and higher education while supporting beneficiaries to develop skills and pursue opportunities that can contribute to Kenya’s social and economic development.
The meeting focused on approaches to making the long-standing partnership more impactful and expanding opportunities for Kenyan youth across different levels of education.
