The retirement of Mr Lotuliatum Reuben, a distinguished senior officer who served at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has been celebrated as the culmination of a career defined by dedication, professionalism, mentorship and service to the community.
The milestone was marked on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Kishaunet Farm in Mnagei Ward, Kapenguria Constituency, where family, friends, colleagues, former students, mentors and members of the Pokot community gathered to celebrate his retirement and the opening of his new home.
The new home was officially opened by Governor Simon Kachapin, who joined the celebrations in honouring Reuben’s contribution to public service and the community.
The occasion provided a fitting platform to recognise a man whose career in the education sector extended beyond holding a senior position at the TSC. His years of service were also characterised by interaction with teachers, education stakeholders and members of the community, creating opportunities for mentorship and professional guidance.

Reuben was celebrated as a committed public servant, respected education professional, mentor and community contributor, with those who attended highlighting the values of discipline, integrity, humility and dedication associated with his journey.
A career of service and mentorship
His contribution to the education sector was particularly significant. Working within the TSC placed him in an institution responsible for managing Kenya’s teaching service, giving him an opportunity to participate in matters that directly affect teachers and the broader education system.
For many of his former colleagues and students, however, his greatest legacy lies not merely in the position he held, but in the people he influenced, mentored and supported throughout his career.
He was also praised for maintaining strong connections with his community and for contributing to the social and professional development of the Pokot people.
The presence of former students at the celebration offered a powerful reminder of the lasting influence of education professionals. Their participation demonstrated that the impact of a career in education can extend well beyond the workplace and remain visible long after formal service ends.
The celebration also highlighted Reuben’s qualities as a family man and community member. The opening of his new home symbolised the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice, while providing a welcoming space for family, friends and the wider community.
Governor Kachapin’s participation gave the occasion an added sense of honour, as the county leadership joined the family and community in recognising Reuben’s service.
Celebrating a lasting legacy
The ceremony was therefore not simply about retirement. It was a celebration of legacy, service and a life dedicated to uplifting others.
It was a moment to acknowledge the importance of public servants who dedicate their productive years to serving institutions, mentoring others and contributing to the development of their communities.
Reuben’s journey demonstrates how professional service can become part of a much larger legacy. His experience at the TSC, relationships with colleagues, interactions with students and commitment to his community have created a body of work that will continue to be remembered by those who benefited from his presence.

As he begins retirement, Reuben leaves the formal workplace with an achievement that cannot be measured only through titles or years of service.
He leaves with respect, goodwill, friendships, professional memories and the gratitude of people whose lives he touched.
The Kishaunet Farm celebration provided the perfect setting for such a transition, bringing together generations of people to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.
New chapter after public service
For the family, it was a proud moment. For former colleagues, it was an opportunity to honour a fellow professional. For former students and mentees, it was a chance to celebrate a mentor. And for the Pokot community, it was an occasion to recognise one of its sons for his contribution to public service and education.
As Reuben settles into retirement, the new home stands as more than a physical structure. It represents a legacy built through years of work, perseverance and service.
His retirement marks the closing of a distinguished professional chapter, but his influence and contribution remain part of the people and community he served.
