- Kenyan schools remain strongly represented as the girls’ hockey competition enters its decisive knockout stages in Morogoro.
Kenyan schools continued to impress in the girls’ hockey competition at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, as St Joseph’s Girls Kitale and Ng’iya Girls National School secured victories on Match Day Six.
Defending champions St Joseph’s Girls Kitale produced a dominant display, thrashing Uganda’s Kakungulu Memorial School 5–1 to book their place in the semifinals.
The Kitale-based side, which is chasing a third consecutive regional title, has established itself as one of the leading forces in East African school hockey. The team had earlier opened its title defence with a 4–0 victory over Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa High School. St Joseph’s won the regional title in 2024 and successfully defended it in 2025.
Ng’iya overcome Nyamira
In another closely contested Kenyan encounter, Nyamira Girls High School and Ng’iya Girls National School played to a 1–1 draw in regulation time before Ng’iya prevailed 2–1 on penalties.
The result continued a growing rivalry between the two Nyanza sides. Nyamira had topped Pool B with a perfect record, while Ng’iya finished second in Pool A before their meeting.
Nyamira had previously beaten Ng’iya on penalties at the national championships in Kisumu, adding further significance to their FEASSA clash.
