  • Kinale Girls have completed a remarkable four-title season across Rugby 7s and Rugby 15s.
  • The Kiambu school followed its two national crowns with another double at the FEASSA Games.
  • Chief Principal Vulfrida Simiyu credits the historic achievement to players, coaches and the school community.

Kinale Girls Secondary School from Kiambu County have etched their name into the history of school rugby after completing a remarkable double-double, winning both Rugby 15s and Rugby 7s titles at the national and East African levels.

The remarkable achievement was completed at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, where Kinale successfully defended their regional dominance and emerged champions in both formats.

Kinale had already established themselves as the leading force in Kenyan girls’ rugby after winning the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Rugby 15s title during the Term One national games. They went on to add the Rugby 7s crown during the Term Two national championships, defeating Kimobo Girls 19–7 in the final.

Their success continued in Morogoro, where they represented Kenya against some of the strongest school sides from across East Africa. In Rugby 7s, Kinale finished ahead of Uganda’s Jinja Secondary School and fellow Kenyan side Kimobo Girls on points difference, with an impressive +70 differential.

The Kiambu-based side then completed the regional sweep in Rugby 15s after overcoming Tanzania’s Murongoine, securing another championship and bringing their tally to four major rugby titles in one season.

The achievement is a major milestone for Kinale, especially considering the growth of girls’ Rugby 15s in Kenyan school games.

The introduction of the format has created opportunities for more girls to develop across different positions and playing styles.

Simiyu hails historic achievement

Chief Principal Vulfrida Simiyu hailed the players and technical team for their commitment, discipline and determination throughout the season.

She said the historic achievement was a reflection of the hard work invested by the girls, coaches and the entire Kinale community.

Simiyu also commended the school’s rugby programme for raising the institution’s profile beyond Kenya and demonstrating that girls can excel at the highest level when given the right support and opportunities.

The historic four-title haul has demonstrated the depth, discipline and consistency within the Kinale programme.

The players have shown that success in one format can be carried into another without losing intensity or focus.
