FEASSA athletics: Action-packed Tuesday programme set for Morogoro

Athletics action at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, enters a busy phase on Tuesday, August 18, with a packed programme featuring track and field finals.

The day begins at 8:15am with the assembly of all teams, followed by a technical officials’ meeting at 8:30am.

Competition gets underway at 9am with the women’s 3,000m Primary final, alongside the men’s High Jump and women’s Shot Put finals for Primary/Secondary athletes.

Track action will then feature the women’s and men’s 400m hurdles at 9:30am and 9:45am respectively, before the men’s Secondary 5,000m final at 10am.

At 10:30am, attention shifts to the 100m Primary women’s final, while the women’s Secondary 100m semi-final is scheduled for 11:40am.

The men’s Primary 100m final and Secondary 100m semi-final are also on the programme.

Track and field action

Field events will provide further excitement, with the women’s Triple Jump and men’s Javelin finals set for 11am.

The middle-distance races continue with the women’s 1,500m Primary/Secondary final at 11:20am, followed by the first medals presentation at 11:40am.

After the midday programme, the women’s 400m Secondary and men’s 400m Secondary semi-finals will be held, alongside the women’s 3,000m Secondary final and the 200m semi-finals for both genders.

Following a health break at 1:10pm, the afternoon session resumes with the men’s Long Jump, women’s Discus and men’s 1,500m finals at 1:40pm.

Relays to highlight afternoon session

Relay races will provide the climax, with the women’s and men’s 4x100m finals scheduled for 2:10pm and 2:50pm respectively.

Medals will be presented at 3:20pm before the day concludes with women’s and men’s Medley Relay finals at 3:30pm and 4pm.

The Morogoro FEASSA Games bring together school athletes from across East Africa, with athletics forming one of the key disciplines in the regional championship.
